Notable Lecture on Biosensors Development by Prof. Shiv Govind Singh at MGIT

In early December 2023, during the meeting of Prof. Phaniraj (Director RD&C) with Prof. Bhanusankar Rao (Emeritus Prof. IITH), the latter spoke over phone with Prof. Shiv Govind Singh about visiting MGIT. However, Prof. Shiv Govind Singh was out of station & promised that he will visit after he is back to IITH.  Prof. Phaniraj & Prof. Chandrasekhar (EEE@MGIT) met with Prof. Shiv Govind Singh on 16^th Jan 2024, when he had returned to IITH.

On 8^th March 2024, Prof. Phaniraj (Director RD&C) met with Prof. & HoD Electrical Engineering, Dr Shiv Govid Singh, and requested him to give his lecture on Avenues in Research @ Electrical Engg. and the way to go about it.  This fructified on 20^th June 2024 in the form of the lecture organised in the Department of EEE on the topic, “Biosensors Development”. Some of the topics he spoke off during his 2.5 hr lecture include: electrochemical sensor, stability, interference & reproducibility, DNA hybridisation, small molecule detection, summary of electrochemical immune sensing platform, development of chemirestive biosensor, challenges in materials deposition schemes, interdevice variability, issue of nonlinearity, protocol for preparation of bioelectrode, detection of AB40 & AB42 analytics, TBI markers detection, cardiac biomarker troponin-I.

Several faculty and students, particularly from the IV & VI semesters, benefitted from the lecture.

After the lecture,  Prof. Shiv Govid Singh met with the Principal Prof. Chandramohan Reddy & Director RD&C Prof. Phaniraj. During the meeting Prof. Shiv Govind Singh suggested that he is open to meet the faculty from MGIT, EEE Dept. and comment on their project proposal so that it contains the key points that will catch the eye of a reviewer. This will make the proposal more suited for submission to SERB or other funding bodies.
